Reimagining lifestyle post "COVID'19"

COVID'19 has brought before us a unique situation with a less known solution. As a community each of us could have experienced how a natural or a man-made disaster would look like. However, this pandemic is so unique that we are all learning to cope with it and most importantly learning to live with it. It was over the last weekend, I suddenly realized that 60 days have passed with no weekend outings, shopping, temple visits, online ordering  and many like this. Routine clock like pattern had to break before this pandemic and we have figured out ways to live with the NEW NORMAL. This motivated me to pen my thoughts on how would life be in the NEW NORMAL once the norms are relaxed and we start resuming back to Pre COVID like situation.

It starts right from how we would approach a day-to-day life scenario buying a milk packet or the groceries or veggies. The moment we step outside it would require us to wear a mask, sanitize before and after, maintaining social distancing would be the norm. Advance planning and preparedness is must for if we were to make purchases amidst long standing queues. If you are one of those who would visit banks or post offices it's safe to operate digital thereby saving time and effort and bankers might use this time to serve those needy with no digital access. Would these vendors selling on our streets still have the same reception to purchase those daily keerais (Spinach), Fish, Vegetables etc.,

If day-to-day life would look like that, how about weekend outings, shopping at malls or crowded places. I can still remember those days as a kid of how a visit to Ranganathan Street (Mambalam) was must for a festival purchase. Chennaites would definitely agree with me that it is one of those rewarding experiences to visit one of the most crowded places in Chennai and walk out carrying those shopping bags full of excitement. I'm eager to see T.Nagar streets buzzing with crowd. While the shopping malls, temples and weekend gateways remain closed, the favorite beach spots of Chennaites - Marina, Bessy, ECR still wear a deserted look. This now makes me wonder how social distancing would have an impact at some of the most crowded places in various other cities.

As I started to write, I'm realizing that I can write even more on many other factors like Education, Annual Travel Plans, Food Habits, Ways of working, Value of money.
